A similar spirit is present in his painting Evening Mood. Between 1910 and 1920 a number of works were produced inspired by the Vltava. Typical of the final period of the artist’s creative life is fascination with the sea, particularly during his stay on the island of Heligoland in the years 1922−1924. A great number of his works reflect his typical approach to scenes of nature and people, including their personal stories, meetings and leave-taking.
