Hana Puchová / Zastavený čas (Stopped Time)

The catalogue for the exhibition Pevné vazby (Strong Bonds), held in 2017 at the House of Art (Dům umění) in Ostrava, contains an extensive collection of reproduced works by Hana Puchová, including a summary catalogue. The introductory text by the exhibition curator Renata Skřebská presents a comprehensive account of Puchová’s artistic signature, her personal motivations and her deeply felt roots in the Ostrava region – a region which often motivates its inhabitants to take highly distinctive personal stances. Hana Puchová is no exception; in her case this distinctiveness is reinforced by her deep closeness to the region’s people, a stance manifested in her use of portrait forms. The catalogue also explores other facets of Puchová’s work – including still lifes, interior scenes, landscapes, and studies of industrial scenes.
