This set of serigraphs and lithographs is a selection from the work of thirty artists who ranked among the foremost members of the Abstraction Création movement. Founded in 1931, this movement was the first (and indeed only) international platform which brought together and promoted the works of abstract (non-figurative) artists. From 1932 to 1936, Abstraction Création published a magazine of the same name, which provided an open forum (free from all editorial interventions) for artists to present their manifestos, studies and ideas – as well as photographic reproductions of individual works (though with poor reproduction quality). This visually attractive album seeks to offer high-quality colour reproductions of works undisturbed by any interpretative texts. The quality of the book (including its graphic production) make this album an artefact in its own right; it will be a valuable addition to any art-lover’s library and a source of constant pleasure.
